The Austin pick features a 2mm fine tip angled 90 degrees to permit precision dissection and elevation of delicate otologic structures such as the stapes footplate and ossicular bonds during ossicular reconstruction and stapedectomy. The right‑angle geometry allows the surgeon to work perpendicular to the operative field without hand obstruction.
